Serpent Lite by syprina Serpent Lite by syprina
Sterling silver pendant, about 1" long, with garnet colored glass beadglass bead. Originally fabricated in silver form 8 gauge (I think) half round wire, then cast, finished and oxidised. My first cast piece :-)

These are available for sale, with or without the oxidized finish and with a variety of beads and chain options. I will post some soon at [link], until then feel free to contact me if you are interested. I am also happy to customize a design to your preferences.

Very nice piece! I like the overall shape and the way the body forms natural loops for attachment. Interesting patina technique as well.=)

Nicely done. It is a beautiful patina. I see someone above commented that you used egg yolk. May I ask how it was done? The piece was well photographed. If you don't mind a bit of creative criticism it worries me to see an open jump ring on such a lovely piece, both from a security and aesthetic standpoint. Keep up the good work.

You are absolutely right about the jump ring! I was so excited about the patina that I took this photo with a prototype in progress, and I like the photo so much I'm still showing it. I really need to stop doing that, and I greatly appreciate the creative criticism.

To patina with egg:

Hard boil one, while it's warm peel it, break it open and put it in a closed container (clear tupperware is good) with the item you want to darken. The time will depend on the metal and how it's been treated- my cast or fabricated snakes turn much quicker than commercial chain for example. It also depends a lot on the temperature in the container. I've sometimes held mine over the steaming water from the eggs to keep them warm- but be careful, if it turns too quickly it will flake.

Hi XEternalSinx!

Thank you so much. I'm sorry this took so long, I haven't been checking devart as much as I should lately. They cost $55 and I'd be happy to hang a heart from it. Just go to my shop at [link] and there is one listed at the top of the page. I accept paypal, checks, and money order. Just add a note with your payment that it's you and you want the heart, and I'll switch it out and send it on up.
